Conversations: Part 1 - Unique Art Experiences & Legacy

Host:

I'm excited to be involved with Private Art Consulting (PAC) and have this opportunity to discuss a few things with you with regards to what we've been doing and what the future looks like.

Would you offer some insight into the vision?

Dana Cohen:

I've always been drawn to very visually appealing art. Art that is significant in its own right and was conceptualized by a game-changing artist who's doing something different and revolutionary - all with the credentials to back it up. I also find Gordon Watson and Iris Apfel very inspiring. I especially like the way they “place” art.

Over the last several years I’ve been fortunate to have spent a lot of time working closely with high-net-worth individuals, c-level executives, some of the brightest and most successful minds, and what I've learned is quality, legacy, authenticity, transparency, and having something special, something that nobody else has, is important.

Working as an art dealer, in auctions, and also working with an elite private club, I've noticed clients share a consistent stance as to what they find valuable. Buying and collecting art is important because the idea of leaving a notable art collection, to family, or even to a museum is more interesting, more culturally significant, than just a boring monetary inheritance. This has stuck with me. Think about it. Money can be made and lost but a collection of art can mean so many things to different people, throughout history and so forth.

The other component that has inspired our vision comes from experiences with the world of art auctions, hosting events, working with artists, good interior design, and various experiences with the business of art. Private Art Consulting was founded to leverage a unique set of skills, a network of relationships - all to focus on building great art collections and structuring creative deals. PAC has been fortunate to work with a variety of art industry professionals, including amazing artists, and what's really exciting is the direction that the company is going.

The focus is on unique art experiences. This comes from feedback from clients who are really craving, especially in these times, an intimate experience that connects them in a deep way to the art.

I’m enthused by that response. The everyday satisfaction of building a collection that brings you joy but has a higher purpose through legacy, it's a theme that seems to unify so many collectors. The curtain has been raised on the art world in the last 24 months leading to so many more collectors demanding the process from research to acquisition to be as hassle-free and transparent as any other sector.
